Preventative Care & Education
For our pediatric dentists in Terre Haute, IN…Learn more about our dentist…, preventative care starts from your child’s very first appointment.
It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry that babies are seen by a pediatric dentist by age one. This first visit is a “show and tell” visit for you and your child. It’s best for your child to have a pleasant first experience with the dental team. This sets the stage for a positive relationship moving forward.
We help achieve this goal by:
To protect your child’s smile, we recommend bringing them to see us around their first birthday. We’ll then create a regular schedule of check-ups (usually every six months).
Remember, early prevention can help us discover and treat small dental issues before they become big problems. As always,

Don’t worry! We always adapt our exams to meet your child’s specific needs and comfort level. We not only create healthy smiles, but we make sure those are happy smiles too..
The best oral hygiene routines start at home. However, your pediatric specialists can definitely help with a thing or two.
When you bring your child for a visit, our team will assess your child’s individual needs and review their daily hygiene routine.
We’ll then thoroughly clean your child’s teeth and apply a fluoride varnish.
Rest assured, we are a judgment-free practice. We educate and provide friendly advice that will improve their oral hygiene in a fun and interactive way. We are in this together!
For our young patients, brushing their teeth and reaching the back molars can prove to be difficult.
These teeth have small pits or fissures on the surface where food can easily become stuck – often leading to cavities and decay.
Sealants are our greatest line of defense to prevent cavities from forming in the permanent molars.
When ready our dental team will place the(sealant), clear protective coating into the deep pits and grooves of those molars.
Once hardened, sealants enable your child to brush away any food debris that would have previously become stuck. It is like a special shield for your child’s tooth and acts as the first line of defense.
